ERNEST TUBB AND THE TEXAS TROUBADOURS Posed in front of their touring bus are the band members from the early 1960s Photograph Signed: "Ernest Tubb", "Bun Wilson", "Leon/Rhodes", "Jack/Drake", "Jimmy/Johnson", "Buddy/Emmons". B/w 10x8. Tubb is shown standing on the steps of the bus, with the 5 members posed in front of it. Singer/songwriter ERNEST TUBB (1914-1984) is said to have created the honky-tonk style of country music with his hit "Walking the Floor Over You" (1943). In 1943, the same year he joined the Grand Ole Opry, Tubb formed his band, The Texas Troubadours. Tubb was with the Opry in its first Carnegie Hall show (1947). He sang duets with Loretta Lynn in the 1960s, including the hit "Sweet Thang". He is enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. "LITTLE" BUN WILSON (1926-2014) sang with the band, but was above all a comedian, heard regularly on Barn Dance and Jubilee. He had a solo hit, "Confess That You're Mine" (1953). Guitarist and drummer LEON RHODES was later featured in the band on TV's Hee Haw. JACK DRAKE was a bass guitarist; JIMMY JOHNSON played the fiddle. BUDDY EMMONS (1937-2015), a pedal steel guitar virtuouso who joined the Tubb's Troubadours in 1958, later formed the steel guitar company which bears his name. Pin-sized holes in corners. Lightly bowed. Toned at edges on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
