LESLIE HOLMES ("THE TWO LESLIES)
The English entertainer is shown in this 1¾x2½ photograph with his
musical partner, Leslie Sarony
Photograph Mount signed: "Leslie Holmes". B/w, 1¾x2½, affixed
to a 2x3 card (2 surfaces). Shown (seated with glasses) with the other Leslie,
Leslie Sarony. British comedy singer/songwriter Leslie Holmes (1901-1960)
paired with Leslie Sarony as The Two Leslies from 1935 to 1946. Holmes,
typically at the piano, would introduce Sarony for a comedy monologue. Then
together they would sing novelty songs. The Two Leslies entertained troops
during World War II, and recorded some novelty hits, including "I'm a Little
Prairie Flower." Holmes died fairly young. Sarony lived long enough (1987) to
appear in Monty Python films. Toned and lightly creased. Corners worn. Signature
lightly smeared (legible). Otherwise, fine condition.
