Captioned in lower margin. The Ventures were the most successful American
instrumental rock band of the 1960s, best known for their signature hit "Walk -
Don't Run" and for their theme song for the TV series "Hawaii Five-0". In
addition to their singles, the Ventures had a long string of successful concept
albums. Although their popularity in the US waned in the 1970s, they
continued to tour and score hits worldwide, especially in Japan, where
they have sold over 40 million records. BOB BOGLE (bass guitar) and DON
WILSON (rhythm guitar), formerly construction workers in Tacoma, Washington,
were founding members of the group. MEL TAYLOR (drummer) joined the group
in 1962, GERRY McGEE (lead guitar) in 1968. When Mel Taylor died while
touring Japan in 1996, he was replaced by his son Leon. Fine
condition.
