THE VENTURES: NOKIE EDWARDS, BOB BOGLE, MEL TAYLOR and DON WILSON
Photo, with instruments, of the core members of the band at the peak of its poularity.
Photograph signed: "Nokie/Edwards", "Bob/Bogle", "Mel Taylor" and "Don Wilson". B/w, 8x10 overall, four 3½x4¼ images (one surface). Captioned in lower margin. The Ventures were the most successful American instrumental rock band of the 1960s, best known for their signature hit "Walk - Don't Run" and for their theme song for the TV series "Hawaii Five-0". In addition to their singles, the Ventures had a long string of successful concept albums. Although their popularity in the US waned in the 1970s, they continued to tour and score hits worldwide, especially in Japan, where they have sold over 40 million records. BOB BOGLE (bass guitar) and DON WILSON (rhythm guitar), formerly construction workers in Tacoma, Washington, were founding members of the group, as was lead guitarist NOKIE EDWARDS. MEL TAYLOR (drummer) joined the group in 1962, Edwards left the band in 1968, to be replaced by Gerry McGee. When Mel Taylor died while touring Japan in 1996, he was replaced by his son Leon. The band members signing here were part of the band at the height of its US popularity. Light corner creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
