Photograph signed: "Warren E. Burger" as Chief Justice and "Potter Stewart", "William H. Rehnquist", "Thurgood Marshall", "Harry A. Blackmun", "Wm. J. Brennan, Jr.", "Byron R. White", "Lewis F. Powell" and "John Paul Stevens" as Associate Justices. Color, 10¾x8. This Court served together from 1975, when Stevens was appointed by President Ford, to 1981, when Stewart retired and was replaced by Sandra Day O'Connor. For 146 years, the Supreme Court did not have a permanent home. Chief Justice Taft convinced Congress to allocate funds for a permanent building. Built from 1932-1935, the Corinthian building (First Street NE at East Capitol Street) is pictured here. Ink lightly beaded at the signatures of Brennan and Stevens, ink blot at the "y" of Harry in Blackmun's signature. Fine condition. Framed to an overall size of 34¼x22½.
