THE WARREN E. BURGER COURT
Card bearing an engraved vignette of the U.S. Supreme Court Building, signed by all nine justices who served between 1971 and 1975.
Engraving signed: "Warren E. Burger", "W. O. Douglas", "William J. Brennan, Jr.", "Potter Stewart", "Byron R. White", "Thurgood Marshall", "Harry A. Blackmun", "Lewis F. Powell", and "William H. Rehnquist" in various inks, 8x6. Card bearing engraved image of the U.S. Supreme Court Building. Warren Burger was the chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1969 to 1986. The nine justices who signed this image of the Supreme Court building served together from 1971, when Powell and Rehnquist joined the Court, to 1975, when Douglas retired. In 1974, Chief Justice Burger spoke for a unanimous Court upholding a subpoena for the Watergate tapes which resulted in President Nixon's resignation. In 1986, Chief Justice Burger retired and was succeeded by Associate Justice Rehnquist, who served until his death in 2005. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
