First Day Cover honoring the sesquicentennial of the establishment of Washington, D.C. as the seat of government, 3-cent stamp picturing the Supreme Court building affixed, postmarked Washington, D.C., August 2, 1950, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. BURGER served as Chief Justice from 1969-1986, when he was succeeded by REHNQUIST who served until his death in 2005. MARSHALL was the first Black Associate Justice and O'CONNOR was the first woman on the Supreme Court. She retired from the Court in 2006. Fine condition.
