Previously a professional dancer, actress LEE REMICK (1935-1991) made her film debut as a sexy drum majorette in A Face In the Crowd (1957). She matured into an actress of great skill, earning anomination for the Best Actress Academy Award for The Days of Wine and Roses (1962). Remick, a popular TV guest and miniseries star, also received a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway performance in Wait Until Dark (1966). Her last public appearance was on April 29, 1991, when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Remick, who was ill from the ravages of cancer died just over two months later (on July 2). JAMES GARNER (b. 1928) starred as Bret Maverick in the first four seasons of the TV series Maverick (1957-1961) and a short-lived sequel (1981-1982). Garner also starred in The Rockford Files (1974-1980). Appearing frequently in films, he was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for Murphy's Romance (1985). Roles in Space Cowboys (2000) and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002) showed Garner going strong in the new millennium.The Wheeler Dealers starred Garner as a Texas oil man coming to New York to play the stock market and falling for stock analyst Remick.
