Powell, Jr.", "John Paul Stevens", "Anthony Kennedy" and "David Souter", 6½x3¾. 20-cent "Flag" stamp picturing the statue outside the U.S. Supreme Court building affixed, postmarked Washington, D.C., December 17, 1981, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. This envelope is signed by seven Justices appointed by seven U.S. Presidents. REHNQUIST was appointed Associate Justice by President Nixon in 1972 and Chief Justice by President Reagan in 1986, serving until his death in 2005. In 1999, he presided over President Clinton's impeachment trial. BRENNAN, appointed by Eisenhower, served from 1956-1990 and was succeeded by SOUTER, who was appointed by Bush in 1990. WHITE, appointed by Kennedy, served from 1962-1993. POWELL, appointed by Nixon, served from 1972-1987 and was succeeded by KENNEDY, appointed by Bush, in 1988. STEVENS was appointed by Ford in 1975. Associate Justices Stevens, Kennedy and Souter are current members of the Supreme Court. Fine condition.
