THE WOMAN ON PIER 13: JOHN AGAR & JANIS CARTER Inscribed lobby card for the 1950 RKO film Lobby Card Inscribed and signed: "To Clint/God Bless/John Agar" and "To Clint-Sincerely,/Janis Carter". Color, 14x11 card for The Woman on Pier 13 © 1950, RKO Radio Pictures Inc. John Agar (1921-2002) was Shirley Temple's first husband (1946-1949). An apparent rising star in such war and Western films as She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949), he appeared mostly in low budget science fiction movies in the 1950s. Agar later reappeared in three Westerns with friend John Wayne (1969-1971) and was often sought for film and TV character roles. Janis Carter (1913-1944) sang in Broadway musicals, including DuBarry Was a Lady (1939-1940) and Panama Hattie (1940-1942) before moving to films. Her prominent film roles included Cadet Girl (the only time she sang in a film, 1941), Framed (1947) and Flying Leathernecks (1951). Her TV appearances included the role of hostess on the game show Feather Your Nest (1954-1956). Multiple staple holes along all edges. Lightly soiled in margins. Otherwise fine condition.
