THE YARDBIRDS: CHRIS DREJA, JIM McCARTY and JEFF BECK
Their Great Hits LP of 1967, signed by all three on the front cover
Record Album Cover signed: "Jeff Beck", "Jim/McCarty", "Chris Dreja", 12½x12½. Their LP Great Hits (1967), Record Included, signed by all three on the front cover. CHRIS DREJA (rhythm guitar) and JIM McCARTY (drums) were original members of an innovative British band, The Yardbirds, formed in 1963. Like most such bands, its composition changed over the years, but lead singers at its peak of popularity in the mid-1960s included Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (later of Led Zeppelin). Originally a blues band, the Yardbirds were pulled in a more pop direction by the marketplace, but were difficult to classify since their music included influences ranging from jazz to Gregorian chants. They scored their first super hit, "For Your Love" in 1964. Whereas Clapton had preferred a pure blues sound, his successor on lead guitar, JEFF BECK, a Yardbird from 1965 through 1967, helped move the band in new directions. A 1965 hit, "Shape of Things," was among the first psychedelic rock songs. Beck left in 1967 to form The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart and Ron Wood. The remaining Yardbirds, pushed by a new producer to release lightweight pop hits, lost popularity by the end of the decade. Dreja and McCarty re-formed the Yardbirds in 1993, released a new album and made a successful US tour. Corners and edges worn. Corners creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
