No place 1960 August 1. Signed carbon copy of a letter of agreement to
Roncom Productions, Inc., New York, N.Y., referencing the AFTRA contract of July
20, 1960 for her guest star appearance on NBC's Perry Como's Kraft Music
Hall, October 26, 1960. Also signed by Harvey B. Sindle, Assistant
Secretary of Roncom. Ritter attests that she shall have the right to cancel that
agreement if she contracts for either a Broadway play or a feature motion
picture which conflicts with that appearance. Ritter must notify Roncom in
writing on or before September 6, 1960 to exercise her option to cancel. Former
stage and vaudeville performer Ritter (1905-1968) gave such a strong performance
in an unbilled role as a weary Christmas shopper in Miracle on 34th
Street (1947) that she was offered more roles. She went on to earn six
Academy Award nominations as Best Supporting Actress: All About Eve
(1950), The Mating Season (1951), With a Song in My Heart (1952),
Pickup on South Street (1953), Pillow Talk (1959) and Birdman
of Alcatraz (1962). Lightly soiled. Nicked on lower left edge.
