Original Art signed: "~ Dr. Suess", 6½x3½. FDC honoring the Youth of America, 3-cent Youth Month stamp affixed, postmarked Washington, D.C., August 11, 1948, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Above his signature, Geisel has drawn an egg with a green yolk and inscribed the drawing: "A special Green Egg/for Ted and Michael!" Theodor Geisel, who wrote and illustrated whimsical juvenile books under the pen name Dr. Seuss, published Green Eggs and Ham in 1960. His other works include Horton Hears a Who (1954), The Cat in the Hat (1957) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1957). Fine condition.
