In this 1955 letter, handwritten, dated and signed by Reik, the psychologist
complains about sloppy editing in a Psycoanalysis article.
Autograph letter signed "Theodor Reik.", 4 pages, 8½x10½, (2 pages
front and verso) on Theodore Reik Clinic letterhead. Dec. 11, 1955. Reik
complains to the editorial board at Psychoanalysis about sloppy editing
and "superficiality" in an article featuring or submitted by him. American
psychologist THEODOR REIK (1888-1969), who had been born in Vienna,
Austria, was one of Sigmund Freud's earliest and most brilliant students
(their association lasted from 1910-1938, when Reik came to the U.S.). In 1948,
Dr. Reik, who is noted for his research in such areas as masochism and
criminology, founded the National Psychological Association for
Psychoanalysis. His works include The Secret Self (1952), Of Love
and Lust (1957), Voices from the Inaudible (1964), Curiosities of
the Self (1965) and The Many Faces of Sex (1956). Lightly tone and
creased. Folded in half horizontally and once vertically. Worn and torn along
folds. Small piece missing from upper left corner of first sheet. Tears in top
and bottom of second sheet. Fine condition.
