Ruled guest register sheet signed by the Oscar nominated screen and stage actor and by
the English film actor
Signatures: "T. BIKEL" and "Roland Culver", 11x8¼ ruled guest register sheet. Both sign their
addresses on across from their names. There are eighteen unknown signatures on the front and
verso of the document. Austrian-born Bikel (1924-2015) moved with his family to Palestine
(1938), from where he moved on to the London stage. Balancing acting and singing careers, he
played a German ship captain in The African Queen (1951) and earned a Best Supporting
Actor Oscar nomination for The Defiant Ones (1958). He originated the role of Captain
Von Trapp in the Broadway performance of The Sound of Music (1959). In 1955, he
recorded an album of Israeli folk songs. He was a co-founder of the Newport Folk Festival,
and performed in it (1960). He served as Vice President of the American Jewish Congress.
English actor Roland Culver (1900-1984) appeared in films for over 50 years, usually in
supporting roles. His film credits also include The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943),
Dead of Night (1945) and The Magic Box (1951). Toned. Frayed at left edge. Lightly soiled.
