Stage and screen actor Theodore Roberts (1861-1928) is best known for his role as Moses in Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 film, The Ten Commandments. Known as the "Grand Duke of Hollywood", Roberts starred in DeMille's films first 23 films. Already a veteran stage actor, Roberts had made his film debut in 1914, appearing in eight films that year, and he would continue to be seen on the big screen until 1932, when his last film, The Fourteen Commandments, was released posthumously. The 1929 film, Noisy Neighbors, was also released after his death. Roberts was married to stage and silent film actress Florence Smythe from 1905 until her death in 1925. Slightly creased and soiled at blank margins and corners, light tape stain at upper margin. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through or impressions). Overall, fine condition.
