THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW: BARBARA STANWYCK and FRED MacMURRAY
Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray inscribe a black and white movie still from their 1956 film There's Always Tomorrow.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To/Steve Juscik/Best wishes/Barbara Stanwyck" and "To Steve -/Best wishes/Fred MacMurray". B/w, 10x8 overall, image 9¼x7 (one surface). Scene from the 1956 film. The pair also co-starred in two other films, Remember the Night (1940)and Billy Wilder's Double Indemnity (1944). Orphaned at four and a Ziegfeld chorus girl at 15, BARBARA STANWYCK (1907-1990) was a Broadway star by the late 1920s. Moving to Hollywood after 1930, she was often cast as a tough-minded working girl who rarely had a happy ending. She received Oscar nominations for Stella Dallas (1937), Ball of Fire (1941), Double Indemnity (1944) and Sorry, Wrong Number (1948). Stanwyck earned renewed popularity on television, especially as the star of the Western series The Big Valley (1965-1969), for which she won an Emmy Award. FRED MacMURRAY (1908-1991) starred in comedies, dramas and musicals. Among his memorable films were True Confession (1937), Double Indemnity (1944) and The Caine Mutiny (1954). He starred as widower Steven Douglas raising My Three Sons from 1960-1972. Among his Disney films were The Shaggy Dog (1959), The Absent-Minded Professor (1961) and Son of Flubber (1963). Minor surface striations (not evident head on) at signatures. Stray ink marks at upper right background, light impression of writing from MacMurray signing another autograph on top of this photograph at lower right background (not evident head on). Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Overall, fine condition.
