The editor of the Deseret News signed this letter to seek approval for use of a
quotation, and it was approved with the prominent man's signature
Document Signed: "Robert West" and"Thomas C. Liddle". 8½x11. Dated
September 12, 1968. Letterhead from the Deseret News. Addressed to Mr.
Robert West, 20 Exchange Place, New York City. In Part: "My wife and I are
preparing for publication a collection of famous inspirational quotations, with more
than 1300 quotes to be included". Liddle proceeds to ask for permission to
publish a quote of West's, who signs his approval at the bottom. Theron C.
Liddle (1912-1977) was a writer who published a series titled A Thought for
Today throughout the 1960s, encompassing a total of five volumes. These books
were collections of quotes from notable people that he hand-selected from
speeches and publications. He was managing editor at the Deseret News from
1949-1971. Other signer merits further research. Mailing creases. Otherwise, fine
condition.
