Typed Letter signed: "Thomas J. D'Alesandro III", 1 page, 8½x11. Baltimore, Maryland, 1969 November 26. On official letterhead to Paul Friscat, North Canton, Ohio. In full: "This is in response to your recent letter concerning the fund drive for the Committee for the Preservation of the Birthplace of Babe Ruth. The response from persons throughout the entire country has been most gratifying to date, and the renovation work at the site is already in progress. In reference to your request to have Mr. Babe Ruth autograph your first day of issue Babe Ruth stamp, I have forwarded your letter to Mr. Paul Welsh, Secretary of the Babe Ruth Committee, for his assistance in this matter. Thank you very much for your interest in this project. Sincerely". Thomas J. D'Alesandro III (b. 1929), the son of former 3-term Baltimore mayor Thomas J. D'Alesandro, Jr. (1903-1987), was himself elected Mayor of Baltimore (1967-1971) after serving 5 years on the City Council. D'Alesandro is the brother of California Representative Nancy Pelosi, who became the first female Speaker of the House on January 4, 2007. The Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum, located "a long fly ball from Orioles Park at Camden Yards," opened to the public in 1974. Three filing holes at left edge. Normal mailing folds.
