The Nobel Peace Prize recipient signs on this 3¼x4¾ newspaper photograph in ink
Newspaper Photograph Signed: "Thomas Mann". 3¼x4¾ card. With a black and white 2x3½
newspaper photograph affixed. Thomas Mann (1875-1955), a German author and essayist
won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929. His best known works include Buddenbrooks
(1901), Death in Venice (1912) and The Magic Mountain (1924). Mann, who would die in
Zürich in 1955, first moved to Switzerland in 1933. He became an American citizen in 1940,
living in Santa Monica, California from 1941-1953. Upper loop of the "T" touches lower
margin of photo. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
