Thomas Mann (1875-1955), a German-born novelist and essayist, was awarded the 1929 Nobel Prize for Literature, principally for his novel, Buddenbrooks.Mann, who was considered the greatest German novelist of the 20th century. After Hitler came to power Mann moved first to Switzerland and then to the US in 1938, becoming an American citizen in 1944. Some of his best known works include Death in Venice and The Magic Mountain. Fine condition.
