THORA HIRD, IRENE HANDL and DIANA QUICK Each pen their signatures on this album leaf! Signatures: "Thora Hird" and on verso "Best Wishes/Diana Quick", 6¼x3¾ album leaf. There is an unidentified signature below Hird's. English actress THORA HIRD (1911-2003) came from a theatrical family but did was known to British audiences for her work in TV sitcoms. These included Meet the Wife (1963-1966), Hallelujah! (as a Salvation Army captain, 1981-1984) and Last of the Summer Wine (1986-2003). A devout Christian act active philanthropist, she also hosted a BBC religious program, Praise Be! She was made an OBE in 1983, a Dame Commander of the British Empire in 1993. British character actress IRENE HANDL (1901-1987) made her London stage debut in 1937.  She appeared in over 100 films, usually cast as a slightly eccentric mother, grandmother, landlady or servant. He played Peter Sellers' wife in It's All Right Jack (1959), and Sherlock Holmes' housekeeper in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970), and made recurring guest visits to many British TV series. She wrote two novels. DIANA QUICK, also an English actress, played the key role of Julia in the TV miniseries Brideshead Revisited (1981). Her starring film roles include The Odd Job (1978), Max, My Love (1986) and AKA (2002). Lightly jagged at right edge. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
