McDowell starred as author H. G. Wells and Steenburgen as his modern-day love
interest Amy Robbins, both of whom hunt for Jack the Ripper in the time travel
adventure Time After Time (1979). MCDOWELL, born Malcolm John
Taylor in Leeds, Yorkshire, England, is an English actor with over 160 TV
shows and movies as of this biography, but he's probably best known for his
role as sociopath-turned-guinea-pig Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971).
McDowell has a tendency to play charismatic - even charming - evil
characters, including the title role in Caligula (1979) and, more
recently, occultist Vater Orlaag in Metalocalypse, as well as playing the
heavy in a number of B-movies. Some of his less diabolical characters include
Nick Travis in If... (1968) and H. G. Wells in Time After Time
(1979). He's also lent his voice to a number of TV cartoons in recent years.
Star Trek fans know McDowell as mad Dr. Tolian Soran, who killed Captain
James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Generations (1994). STEENBURGEN, born in
Newport, Arkansas in 1953, was spotted by Jack Nicholson, who cast her as his
feisty frontier wife in 1978's Goin' South. Two years later, she won a
Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her performance as Melvin Dummar's inamorata
in Melvin and Howard (1980). Able to convey a wide age and character
range, some of Steenburgen's film highlights include Philadelphia (1993),
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Nixon (1995) and The Grass
Harp (1995). Married to Ted Danson, the two have collaborated on a number of
projects, including 1994's Pontiac Moon and the made-for-TV Gulliver's
Travels in 1996. With price tag remnant on front cover. Lightly scratched,
scuffed and creased. Otherwise in fine condition.
