TIME REMEMBERED PLAY CAST: MARGARET RUTHERFORD and PAUL SCOFIELD
The two accomplished British stage actors sign this program for a production of the play at Bournemouth Pavilion
Program signed: "Every good wish/Margaret Rutherford" (on front cover) and "Paul Scofield" (on cast page). 12p, 5½x8¼. Color Theatre Programme for the Bournemouth Pavilion (London) production of Time Remembered in which Rutherford appeared as The Duchess of Pont-au-Bronc and Scofield as Prince Albert Troubiscoi. RUTHERFORD's (1892-1972) film career began in her middle years, and she soon built a reputation for playing the brainy spinster and the dotty British eccentric. She is perhaps best known as the medium Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit (1946) and as the formidable Miss Jane Marple in the series of four of Agatha Christie's mystery films. Rutherford won an Oscar for her role in The VIPs (1963). SCOFIELD (1922-2008) was an English stage, movie and TV actor who won renown as a Shakespearean actor and performed in more than 80 plays. He can be seen in film versions of several of Shakespeare's works, including King Lear (1971, 1987), Kenneth Branagh's Henry V (1989) and Franco Zeffirelli's Hamlet (1990). He earned a Best Actor Academy Award for his role as Sir Thomas More in A Man For All Seasons (1966), a role which had previously earned him a Tony, and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as Mark Van Doren in Quiz Show (1994). Lightly creased, soiled and worn. 1x½-inch paper loss at mid-right edge of front cover and 1x½-inch separation (all intact) on back cover due to removal of seal. ¼- to ½-inch separations (all intact) along edges of both covers. Separations at top and bottom of fold (all intact). Otherwise, fine condition.
