TIPPY STRINGER
Darling photo of the 1950's weatherwoman who wishes a Happy New Year to a fan. A rare autograph.
Inscribed photograph signed: "A very happy New Year/to you Corinne--/Tippy Stringer", B/w, 8x10. Photographer's stamp [Harris & Ewing] on verso. The multi-talented and ever lovely Tippy Stringer (born Tipton Stringer in Evanston, Illinois, 1930-2010) was a popular weathergirl for NBC radio and television during the 1950's. A darling, 5ft. 5 blonde with a slender frame and peppy warmth of character, Stringer was adored by fans all over the country, praised as "the cutest thing seen on TV." Before she earned a permanent position as weather girl for Washington D.C., she hosted cooking and homemaking shows on the radio. As her popularity grew on screen, Stringer became a musical performer, known for leaving the newsroom to perform in glamorous night clubs in between breaks. She was the widow of Chet Huntley and William Conrad. Lightly creased, slightly soiled. Adhesive residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
