Typed note signed: "T.Y"., 5½x3½. No place, no date. To
"Dear Friend". In full: "Thanks a lot for your nice letter.
Hope you keep listening. I never received your letter, otherwise I'D have sent
the picture inmmediately (sic). Sorry. I will gladly sing your requested
songs, real soon, Cordially." Four bars of music to a song beginning "Kiss
me once more" imprinted at lower margin. Mexican actor/singer Tito Guízar(1908-1999) is credited with introducing the singing cowboy in Mexican
films. Guízar, who went to New York in 1929 to study opera, had a radio show
there and sang both operas and Mexican cowboy songs at Carnegie Hall.
After a brief stint in Hollywood, starring opposite such stars as Roy Rogers,
Dorothy Lamour and Mae West, Guízar returned to Spanish-language films and was
seen on Mexican TV through the 1990s. Lightly soiled. Stray ink mark at
blank area to left of "Cordially". Otherwise, fine condition.
