Photograph inscribed and signed: "Ted - May it be soon -/Always your old
Pal/Tom Brown". Sepia, 8x10. The child of a stage couple, Tom Brown
(1913-1990) was on stage and radio from early childhood, appearing in several
Broadway comedies. He played a clean-cut youth and then a student in films of
the silent and early talking era. In demand by advertisers, he was the
Buster Brown shoe boy, and also appeared in spots for Arrow shirts and Buick
cars. He played the comic book action hero "Smilin' Jack" in the 1943
film. Brown was a paratrooper serving in World War II and called up
again for the Korean conflict. In the 1950s and 1960s he appeared in many TV
episodes, including a recurring role as rancher Ed O'Connor on
Gunsmoke (15 episodes, 1959-1975). Tack holes at all corners. Corners
lightly worn. Paper residue (previous mounting) on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
