TomCoughlin moved from Boston College to become the first head coach of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995. In his first five years with the team, Coughlin led them to a 53-35 record and two AFL title games, a remarkable record for an expansion franchise. The last three of his 8 years in Jacksonville were less successful (19-29), and he was fired after the 2002 season. However, he returned as head coach for the New York Giants in 2004. In his first three seasons in New York, Coughlin's record as the Giants head coach was 25-23. In the 2007 season, the Giants reached the playoffs after a 10-6 season. That year his team became the unlikelyvictors of Super Bowl XLII. Facing the 18-0 New England Patriots as huge underdogs, the Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14 with a fourth quarter touchdown drive. As of 2011 Coughlin remains the Giants head coach. Coughlin brought his team to another Super Bowl victory on February 5, 2012 with another win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.
