Courtenay, born in Hull, Humberside, England in 1937, is an English actor with a long and distinguished stage career, as well as almost 40 TV shows and movie to his credit. He debuted with the Old Vic company in London's West End in 1960. In 1961, he over the title role in Billy Liar from Albert Finney in 1961, a role that he reprised in the 1963 film adaptation. Courtenay's memorable film roles include rebellious Colin Smith in The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962), Pasha Antipov in Doctor Zhivago (1965), and as Norman, dresser for Finney's character in The Dresser (1981). Courtenay was nominated for acting Oscars for his roles in Doctor Zhivago and The Dresser, as well as Tonys for his roles in Otherwise Engaged (1977) and a 1982 stage adaptation of The Dresser. He was knighted in 2001. Lightly toned and creased. Pinhead-sized impressions on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise in fine condition.
