TOM EWELL
Tom Ewell signs standard AFTRA contract with Rancom Productions
Document signed twice: "Tom Ewell/ 084-07-0096" on page 1, "TE" on rider attached to last page, 6p, with two stapled riders on last page, 8½x11. New York, N.Y., 1955 November 8. Contract with Roncom Productions, Inc. for Ewell's appearance as a guest star on The Perry Como Show, December 3, 1955. Ewell is to receive $7,500 for the appearance and rehearsals. A stage actor from 1928, EWELL (1909-1994) didn't land big roles until after his naval service in World War II. Then he scored two big Broadway successes, John Loves Mary (1947) and The Seven Year Itch (1954), winning a Tony for the latter and reprising the role opposite Marilyn Monroe in the film of the following year. Not a classic leading man, Ewell in films often played wayward husbands (Adam Rib, 1949) or ordinary soldiers (Up Front, 1951). He had his own TV sitcom for a year (The Tom Ewell Show, 1960-1961) and a regular role on Baretta (1975-1978). Staple holes and paper clip impression in upper left. Additional staple holes down left edge. Carbon traces on first page. Otherwise, fine condition.
