Autograph Letter signed: "Tom Gallon", 1 page, 10x8. St.
John's Wood [London], 1909 July 22. On personal letterhead to
"Dear Miss Warren", in full: "I return the specimen of Mr.
Donaldson's typewriting herewith. I have a private secretary to whom all of my
work (or most of it) is dictated. But should the necessity arise for some
outside typewriting to be done, I will be glad to bear Mr. Donaldson in mind.
Believe me to be very faithfully yours". English novelist and playwrightTom Gallon (1866-1914) wrote numerous popular stories, including
Tatterly (1897), A Rogue in Love (1905), The Golden Thread
(1905) and The Great Gay Road (1910). Many of his works were made into
films. The Tom Gallon Trust Award for beginning authors was endowed by
his sister, Nellie Tom Gallon, herself an author of note. One vertical and one
horizontal fold. Light foxing. Slightly creased. Pencil notes (unknown hand) at
margins (not affecting signature). Otherwise, fine condition.
