Commemorative Envelope signed: "Tom Glavine", 6½x3½. Envelope bearing 42-cent
Canadian flag stamp and special cachet celebrating the Toronto Blue Jays' victory over the
Atlanta Braves in Game 4 of the 1992 World Series. Ink stamp (not a postmark) bears the
date of the game, October 21, 1992 and the caption in 2 languages: Philatelic Canada -
Toronto. After 16 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, on one of the finest pitching staffs in
Major League history, Glavine, born Thomas Michael Glavine in 1966,joined the New York
Mets in 2003 and then the Atlanta Braves for his final season in 2008. An 8-time All-Star,
Glavine won the Cy Young Award in 1991 and 1998, finishing second or third in the voting
four more times. (Three of those four times he was edged out by teammate Greg Maddux.) A
5-time 20-game winner, leading the league each time, the durable Glavine led the league in
starts six times. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 1995 World Series. Lower
right corner creased. Glavine, incidentally, was the losing pitcher in Game 4 of the 1992 Series,
won by Toronto in six games. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
