TOM McNEELEY and PETE McNEELEY
Two printed photos on one surface, showing father Tom's 1961 bout with Floyd Patterson and son Pete's 1995 fight with Mike Tyson.
Printed photograph signed: "Tom/McNeeley", "Pete/McNeeley". Two 6¼x4¼ images on one 8x10 surface, one each B/w and color. TOM McNEELEY (1937-2011) won his first 23 professional fights, earning a shot at the heavyweight crown against Floyd Patterson. In a 1961 match in Toronto, refereed by former champ Jersey Joe Walcott, and shown here, McNeeley was knocked out in the Fourth Round. He continued fighting through 1966, with a career record of 37 wins (28 by knockout), 14 losses (including 5 KO's), and one disqualification. McNeeley, whose father and son were also boxers, served 8 years as Massachusetts State Boxing Commissioner. PETER McNEELEY (b. 1968) made his bid for fame in a 1995 non-title bout with past and future heavyweight champ Mike Tyson, shown here. McNeeley had vowed to wrap Tyson in a "cocoon of horror," but instead, attacking aggressively, was knocked down twice in the first two minutes and disqualified when his trainer intervened. Despite this loss, McNeeley concluded his pro boxing career in 2001 with a fine record of 47-7, including 36 wins by knockout. His post-boxing career has been less impressive. After two arrests on assault charges, he was caught in 2006 driving the getaway car in the $100 robbery of a Walgreen's pharmacy. Fine condition.
