Golf champion Tom Watson, who graduated from Stanford University in 1971 with a
degree in psychology, joined the Professional Golfers Association tour in 1972.
Named PGA Player of the Year six times, he won 39 PGA tournaments
(1974-1998), including eight majors, before joining the PGA Senior (now
Champions) Tour. Watson's wins include Masters titles in 1977 and 1981,
the PGA Championship in 1980 and 1984, the U.S. Open in 1982 and
the World Series of Golf in 1980. A five-time winner of the British
Open (1975, 1977, 1980, 1982, 1983) and two-time winner of the Senior
British Open, he was made an honorary member of the Royal and Ancient
Golf Club of St. Andrews in 1999. Watson was the leading money winner on
the PGA tour from 1977-1980 and again in 1984. Horizontal folds. Ink note on
verso (unknown hand) touches "T" in signature. Otherwise, fine
condition.
