TOMAS SANDSTROM
The Swedish hockey player signs this 5½x10½ magazine photograph showing him in New York Rangers uniform
Magazine photograph signed: "Tom Sandstrom 7" in blue felt. 5½x10½. Tomas Sandstrom (b.1964) is a retired professional hockey forward who played 16 seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim between 1984 and 1999. Known for his aggressive play, Sandstrom was strong and fierce competitor; however, because he was so violent on the ice, he suffered many injuries and was not able to play as much as his teams would prefer. He did make an impact though with the Los Angeles Kings as the legendary Wayne Gretzky's right hand man, and the two of them were an unstoppable force. His aggression would get him into serious trouble during the 1991 Smythe Division finals where he suffered a scratched cornea, broken cheek bone and a broken leg. Sandstrom helped get the King's to their 1993 Stanley Cup win, but was not part of the post season team. He did, however, win a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings in 1997. Sandstrom is a two-time NHL All-Star. Edges irregular. Corners rounded. Adhesive residue on front. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
