Signature: "Tom Henrich" in pencil, 3¼x¾ lined paper affixed to 5¾x1
larger paper (two surfaces). Dated on larger paper (unknown hand): 1937.
Until his death on December 1, 2009, Tommy Henrich (b. 1913), nicknamed "Old
Reliable," was the oldest living Yankee, the oldest player to have won a World
Series, and the last surviving teammate of Lou Gehrig. Henrich spent all his
Major League seasons in Yankee pinstripes (1937-1942, 1946-1950, with 3 seasons
off for Coast Guard duty in World War II. A 5-time All-Star, Henrich played
on 5 World Series winners and figured in some of the Series' most famous
games, including the first walk-off home run (Game One, 1949). Toned and
soiled. Back piece is torn irregularly at left and lower edges. Ink note
(unknown hand) on back paper.
