TOMMY LEE JONES
The actor changes his mind on the terms of a writers agency contract.
Document signed: "Tommy Lee Jones", 2p,8½ x11. No place, 1988 July 22. Also initialed "TLJ". Signed and initialed on p2. Rider to a contract between International Creative Management and Tommy Lee Jones as writer. Jones agrees to be a member of the Writers Guild of America for the duration of the contract (length not specified in the rider). The rider also names three agents (Jeffrey Berg, Joe Funicello and Michael Black) to act on his behalf within ICM. Boxes on p2 allow Jones to opt in or out of a provision allowing him to terminate the agreement with ICM if they secure for him only minimum WGA terms over any period of six months. Jones had first checked NO (declining this option), and started to initial "TL". Then he crossed out this check mark and initials, checking and initialing YES instead. Jones has also checked a box stipulating that he does not desrie the services of a WGA Agency Negotiator. The Harvard roommate of future Vice President Al Gore, Jones won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor as U.S. Marshal Sam Gerard in The Fugitive (1993). He earned Emmys for TV movies The Executioner's Song (1997) and Lonesome Dove (1989). The hugely popular Jones has starred in such films as Coal Miner's Daughter (1980), Cobb (1994), Men in Black (1997) and Space Cowboys (2000). Staple holes and diagonal fold in upper left corner. Binder holes at top. Otherwise, fine condition.
