Singer Tommy Sands signed this document in 1960 to certify that he'd read the enclosed contract to appear on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall and that his performance wouldn't be broadcast in case of an AFTRA strike. He was to be paid $7,500 for this performance.
Contract signed"Tommy Sands" twice and by representatives of Grace Music Company and Roncom Productions, Inc. in black and blue ink. 13 pages, 8½x11, single-sided, bound with 1 staple. No. 10, 1960. Sands signed this contract to appear on Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall as a guest star for $7,500. His performance was to be taped on Nov. 18 and broadcast on Nov. 23. Sands also signed this to say that, in case of a strike by the American Federation of Television and Recording Artist on Nov. 15, 1960, his performance would not be broadcast. Sands, born in Chicago, Illinois in 1937, is an American singer and actor. He learned to play guitar at seven and within a year was performing twice weekly on a Shreveport, Louisiana radio station. Colonel Tom Parker signed him to RCA Records and, in 1957, starred in an episode of Kraft Television Theatre as a singer similar to Elvis Presley. He played Teenage Crush on the show, which was turned into a single and peaked at No. 3 on the charts. He also acted in several movies, including Sing, Boy, Sing (1958), Babes in Toyland (1961), The Longest Day (1962) and Ensign Pulver (1964). Lightly toned and creased. Lightly discolored at right edge. Carbon copy and photocopy marks. Rider has ragged bottom edge. Light tears, staple holes, paper clip impression and rust marks in top left corner. Otherwise in fine condition.
