Tommy Steele (b. 1936), born Thomas Hicks, was England's first rock 'n' roll star,
performing and recording such hits as "Singing the Blues", "Water, Water", and "Shiralee".
Steele, who made his film debut in 1956, starred in his own biopic, The Tommy Steele
Story (U.S. title, Rock Around the World) in 1957, and appeared in several other feature
films including The Happiest Millionaire (1967, for which he was nominated for a
Golden Globe for New Star of the Year - Male), Half a Sixpence (1968), in which he had
starred on the stage in 1963, and Finian's Rainbow (1968). Steele, who published his
autobiography, My Life, My Songs in 1974, has kept busy since making his last film with
theatrical revues, club appearances, and TV specials. Minor surface scratches (not evident
head-on). Otherwise, fine condition.
