TOMMY TUNE
Signature of the Tony Award-winning dancer and choreographer.
Signature: "Tommy Tune [sixteenth note]", 5x3 card. Multitalented dancer, singer, actor, choreographer and director Thomas James "Tommy" Tune (born in 1939) has been awarded a record nine Tony Awards: Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Musical) for Seesaw (1974); Best Choreographer (with Thommie Walsh) for A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine (1980); Best Director (Musical) for Nine (1982); Best Actor (Musical) and Best Choreographer (also with Walsh) for My One and Only (1983); Best Director (Musical) and Best Choreographer for Grand Hotel, the Musical (1990); and, Best Director (Musical) and Best Choreographer for The Will Rogers Follies (1991). He was also nominated for Tonys five additional times, and Tune has been the recipient of eight Drama Desk Awards and two Obie Awards (among numerous other honors) and he was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 1991. Tune, who is six-feet, six-and-a-half inches tall, is one of the tallest dancers on Broadway, but drama critic John Simon praised Tune as being "as long on talent as on legs". In addition to appearing on Broadway, Tune has toured extensively, including a stint in his one-man show, Tommy Tune Tonight!, and he has appeared in two feature films, Hello, Dolly! (1969) and The Boy Friend (1971). Tune, who also starred in the Las Vegas extravaganza EFX (1999), published his autobiography, Footnotes, in 1997. Slightly creased and worn at corners, diagonal crease at lower right margin. Slightly soiled. Overall, fine condition.
