TONY CURTIS and JANET LEIGH
Vintage 7¼x9 photo of the actors as a couple, signed and inscribed by her, signed by him
Inscribed Photograph signed: "To Al -/ Best Wishes/ Janet Leigh", "Anthony Curtis", in blue
ink, sepia, 7¼x9. Originally cast mainly for his good looks, TONY CURTIS, born Bernard
Schwartz (1925-2010), showed real acting talent in such films as The Defiant Ones
(1958), Some Like It Hot (1959) and - cast against type - in The Boston Strangler (1968).
Later in his career, he preferred to play comic roles. Only very early in his career did Curtis
sign as "Anthony" instead of "Tony." JANET LEIGH (1927-2004) was one of
Hollywood's biggest stars from the late 1940s into the 1960s. Best remembered as the
Oscar-nominated murder victim in the shower in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), she
also starred in such films as Little Women (1949), Scaramouche (1952), My Sister Eileen
(1955), Touch of Evil (1958), The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and Harper (1966). Curtis
and Leigh, married from 1952 to 1961, are the parents of actresses Kelly and Jamie Lee
Curtis. Part of the "A" in Anthony has been trimmed off. Slightly silvered. Light contrast to
first letter of Leigh's signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
