The actor pens this letter to the founder of the Gallery of History, Todd M. Axelrod,
regarding what he considered to be his most important role
Autograph Letter signed: "Tony Lorea" in black ink, 1p, 8½x11. No place, 1980 August 25.
On his personal letterhead. To "Dear Todd". In full: "I am sorry that I have not responded
sooner. It is a pleasure + and honor to respond at this time, and that you consider me a
celebrity./ My most important role, was done when I was a student at the Pasadena
Playhouse. I was ask (sic) to act as a suspect in a car theft situation. Hall King and I both
were to be interrogated by 12 prospective Detective candidates. Our response to each
candidate was to be natural/ adlibed (sic) as if we were actually involved in the crime./
Both Hal + I were given an assumed names (sic) an (sic) character background wich (sic)
were our guide lines (sic). The procedure took 2 days as was preformed (sic) in front of a
Pasadena Police Commissioners Board - who were (sic) responsible for selecting the one
out of twelve candidates for promotion./ Enclosed you will find my Ressume (sic) - - as
some of what my career has been since that time in 1946./ It has been an added pleasure
for me to do a good Bogart from time to time - as time goes by./ Yours Truly". Tony
Lorea is a character actor who has appeared in bit parts in a handful of movies. He is best
known for his roles in The Hellcats (1968), Supercock (1975), Smokey and the Hotwire
Gang (1979), Hot Shots! (1991), and Night Shade (1996). In addition to acting, Lorea has
worked as an assistant director on several films including The Glove (1979) (as Anthony Lorea)
and Sweet 16 (1983). Gently creased along top edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
