TONY MARLOW
The British politician discusses his Bill for the control and welfare of dogs, signs his name in black ink
Typed letter signed: "Tony Marlow" in black ink. 1 page, 5½x8¼ affixed to piece of white paper. Written on personal House of Commons letterhead. London, England. June 21, 1984. Addressed to Mr. V.W. Croxford of Surrey, England. In full: "Thank; [sic] for your letter of support on the subject of dogs, As you may know I introduced a Bill for the control and welfare of dogs. This received a very large majority form Members of Parliament. As a Bill in private time it was unlikely to be able to progress any further and become law. However, it showed the Government the overwhelming desire of Members of Parliament for action to be take. Certainly the Department of Environment would like to introduce some measures. I believe that any message of support to William Waldegrave at that department could be helpful. Should you wish to pursue the matter further personally can I suggest that you get in touch with the League for the Introduction of Canine Controls, 40 Prince of Wales Road, Kentish Town, London N.W. 5. Yours sincerely". Tony Marlow (b. 1940) is a British Conservative and former Member of Parliament, after gaining Northampton North in the 1979 election. He caught the attention of the media in 1995 when he was a conspicuous supporter (wearing a colorful, stripy blazer) of politician John Redwood at a press conference in which Redwood announced his challenge for the Conservative Party leadership against Prime Minister John Major. He lost his seat in 1997 to Labour Party Sally Keeble. Irregularly cut. Normal mailing folds. Toned. Right corners cut off. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
