TONY RANDALL
Randall sends a typed letter to comedienne/actress Phyllis Diller
Typed Letter signed: "Tony", 1p, 8½x11. New York, N.Y., 1993 January 19. On letterhead of National Actors Theatre, Tony Randall Founder, Chairman and Artistic Director. To comedienne and actress Phyllis Diller. In full: "We have had some exciting news! Since the invitations were sent out for our upcoming production of The Odd Couple in Palm Beach on January 26, we have learned that Ms. Lois Pope, who was originally listed as a Committee member, has graciously agreed to serve as one of our chairs for the event. Needless to say, we are absolutely delighted and welcome her with open arms. We look forward to working closely with her in the coming weeks, and are certain that her input will help determine that the evening is an outstanding success. Warmest personal regards. Sincerely". Perhaps best remembered as Felix Unger in the TV version of The Odd Couple (1969-1974), Randall (1920-2004)was an accomplished radio and stage actor from the late 1940s. From the late 1950s, he starred in successful film comedies, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter (1957), Pillow Talk (1959) and Lover Come Back (1961). Other TV roles included The Tony Randall Show (1976) and the Emmy-winning Dear Sydney (1981-1982). Sometimes in trouble with the networks for his outspoken politics, he was also in demand for quiz shows because of his encyclopedic knowledge of trivia. Fine condition.
