Photograph signed: "Toshiro Mifune" [in Japanese script and
also Roman alphabet].B/w, 4½x6½. Shown as the title character in Red
Beard (1965). Accompanied by original mailing envelope. The most
internationally recognized Japanese actor, Toshiro Mifune (1920-1997) was
frequently cast in leading roles by Akira Kurosawa, Japan's most
celebrated director. Though without formal training as an actor, Mifune was a
powerful presence in films like Rashomon (1951), The Seven
Samurai (1954), Throne of Blood (1957) and Yojimbo (1961).
Often cast in samurai roles, Mifune could also fill less action-oriented roles,
as in High and Low (1962). He played Admiral Yamamoto in Midway
(1976) and Lord Toranaga in the miniseries Shogun (1980). Corners
creased. Surface creases head on. Otherwise, fine condition.
