TROY DONAHUE
The actor signs a release form for the News Syndicate Co. Inc.
Document signed: "Troy Donahue", 1 page, 8½x11. No place, 1962 October 4. Headed: "Release Form". In letter form to News Syndicate Co. Inc., New York, New York. Begins: "Gentlemen". In full: "In consideration of the publicity to be given to me and which may arise herefrom, my consent is hereby irrevocably given to you, your assignees and licensees, and to the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate, Inc., and its subscribers and licensees, to use my name, picture, or portrait, in publications for editorial or promotional purposes, excluding, however, commercial advertising." In 1962, Donahue appeared in one feature film, Rome Adventure, and made a guest appearance on Talk of the Town. That year, he was finishing up his run on one TV series, Surfside Six, and he would begin his role as Philip Barton on Hawaiian Eye. Screen and television actor Troy Donahue (1936-2001), born Merle Johnson, Jr., made his film debut in 1957's Man Afraid. Two years later, after being signed as a contract player by Warner Bros., Donahue became a teen heartthrob when the studio cast him in A Summer Place (1959). Donahue, whose most successful film was Parrish (1961), appeared in films through 2000. He also starred in two television series, Surfside Six (1960-1962) and Hawaiian Eye (1962-1963), and made guest appearances on a long list of TV shows, from 1958 (The Californians) through 1990 (Monsters). Donahue's four wives included actress Suzanne Pleshette, to whom he was briefly married from January 4-September 8, 1964. Lightly creased. ¼-inch tear at mid-left blank edge. Lightly soiled at blank areas. Name typed at upper left. Otherwise, fine condition.
