"Troy Donahue is Sweet Savior". Troy Donahue (1936-2001, born
Merle Johnson, Jr. in New York City) was an American screen and television
actor. He made his film debut in an uncredited role in 1957's Man Afraid.
Two years later, after being signed as a contract player by Warner Bros.,
Donahue became a teen heartthrob when the studio cast him in A Summer
Place (1959). Donahue, whose most successful film was Parrish
(1961), appeared in films through 2000. He also starred in two television
series, Surfside Six (1960-1962) and Hawaiian Eye
(1962-1963), and made guest appearances on a long list of TV shows, from 1958
(The Californians) through 1990 (Monsters). Donahue's four
wives included actress Suzanne Pleshette, to whom he was briefly married
from January 4 to September 8, 1964. Fine condition.
