TUGBOAT ANNIE SAILS AGAIN MOVIE CAST: RONALD REAGAN and JANE WYMAN
Rare photograph of lovers on film and in real life signed by Reagan and his first wife of a black and white publicity photograph of their move Tugboat Annie Sails Again.
Photograph signed: "Ronald Reagan" and "Jane Wyman". B/w, 10x8. Captioned on verso: "Eddie (Ronald Reagan), Peggy (Jane Wyman) in TUGBOAT ANNIE SAILS AGAIN TB21 A Warner Bros. First National picture." In their fourth screen appearance together, Wyman played a wealthy young socialite (Peggy Armstrong) who falls in love with Reagan (Eddie King), a poor sailor. Ronald's older brother Neil played a bit part as Rex Olcott. Seated at the table is character actress Marjorie Rambeau as Tugboat Annie. On January 24, 1940, 28-year-old Ronald Reagan married 26-year-old Jane Wyman. They had three children: Maureen Elizabeth (born 1941), Christina (born prematurely in 1947, she died three days later) and Michael Edward (born 1942, adopted by the Reagan's in 1945). The Reagan's were divorced on June 28, 1948. Nominated four times for Oscars, Jane Wyman won the 1948 Academy Award for Best Actress in Johnny Belinda. Ronald Reagan, who made 53 films, was never nominated for an Oscar. While never a First Lady, Wyman was married to a U.S. President, as were the wives of Presidents Jefferson, Jackson, Van Buren, Arthur, and Theodore Roosevelt's first wife, who died before their husbands became President, and the second wives of former Presidents Fillmore and Benjamin Harrison. Signed photographs of the two are rarely encountered. Creased.
