"TWINKLE TOES" WATTS and FAY McKENZIE
Very rare signatures of the talented child star and the beautiful actress
Autograph note signed: "Love To Irene/ With best wishes/ Twinkle Toes/ March 30, 1975/ Janne (Twinkle Toes)/ Watts" in black ink. March 30, 1975. Affixed is a newspaper photograph of the child star. And "Fay/ McKenzie" in black ink. Affixed is a magazine photograph of the star. Twinkle Watts was a child actress in Republic Westerns of the mid-1940s, appearing in four films with Don "Red" Barry (shown here) and six more with Allan Lane. She got to display her other talent, figure skating, in the short film Lake Placid Serenade (1944). Deciding that child actors in Westerns were not popular with its youthful target audience, Republic dropped her from its lineup in 1946. Fay Mckenzie (b.1918) is an American actress and singer. Born to actor Robert McKenzie and actress Eva McKenzie, Mckenzie began working in film at the age of six with one of her first roles as Sarah Lincoln in The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln (1924). Although she's appeared in dozens of movies, Mckenzie's most notable performances have been acting alongside Gene Autry in films such as Down Mexico Way (1941) and The Heart of the Rio Grande (1942). Very toned. Corners and edges worn and slightly torn. Lightly soiled. Light surface creases. Irregularly cut. Otherwise, fine condition.
