ULF SAMUELSSON
This photograph of the hockey professional in Hartford Whalers uniform is signed in
purple ink
Photograph signed: "Ulf Samuelsson" in purple ink. 3¾x7. Ulf Samuelsson (b. 1964) is a
retired NHL player of Swedish descent, playing for 18 seasons with the Hartford Whalers
(1984-1991), Pittsburgh Penguins (1990-1995), New York Rangers (1995-1999), Detroit
Red Wings (1998-1999), and the Philadelphia Flyers (1990-2000). A defenseman,
Samuelsson can often be considered a pseudo-enforcer, known for his aggressive playing
style on the ice, being nicknamed "Robocop" and "Tuffe Uffe" (Tough Ulf in English). He is
most remembered for his on ice scuffles, including one knee-on-knee check with player
Tie Domi, which caused Domi to develop Myositis Ossificans and effectively ended his
NHL career. After retiring from the NHL, Samuelsson served as a coach for several junior and
minor teams, and is now serving as head coach for Modo Hockey in Sweden. Toned. Corners
slightly rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
